April 30th

Just finished the first HUGE horse. This one is 42 X 44. I remembered how much I love doing the big paintings!
Good news this week! My horse paintings are now being represented by Móntez Gallery in Truchas, NM!

Trying some horses for a change of pace. Just getting started on some horses I met this weekend in Chimayó.

As I said, I am very impatient. While waiting for yesterday's painting to dry I started a few more....

LEFT: Madonna at day's end in the studio

Saturday morning I decided it was time for my very old Mexican Madonna bulto to have a new outfit.
The perfect fabric showed up in an untouched bag which had been purchased in London decades ago!
I got right to work making and outfit and matching leather and fabric shoes.

PROJECT OF THE MONTH
FEBRUARY 2012

For whatever reason, and I know not what that might be, I decided last week to do a papier maché portrait of my faithful beast and studio companion, Shelby the Wonder Dog. Not being the most patient person I know, I needed to do something while I was waiting for the first one to dry, so I started another.

I found out that one of the many the joyous things about the Santa Fe sun is that no matter what the temperature (which right now is in the 40's) it is STRONG! They dried in no time flat once I decided to put them out on the patio to bask in the rays.

Once the gesso dried on the first one, it was finally time for the fun part---the painting. The real Shelby sat by patiently and watched this whole process until it was time for their meeting.

You can see for yourself how that went....

Kind of reminded me of the Lucy and the Mirror episode....
Shelby and The Pack In the art world, everyone's a critic!
